Job description
- Lead the project evaluation process from initial idea to prioritization;
- Evaluate the scope, requirements, complexity and alignment of projects with strategic objectives;
- Make recommendations to management based on feasibility, risks and availability of resources;
- Collaborate with key technical leads to produce a project evaluation that challenges established standards;
- Conduct ongoing project status assessments, with a focus on timelines, budget, risk, scope, and stakeholder engagement;
- Identify early warning signs and support the implementation of corrective plans;
- Consolidate monitoring dashboards and ensure their visibility to PMO management;
- Act as the lead for the organizational milestone management framework;
- Ensure that all projects comply with documentation requirements, preparation criteria and approval steps;
- Animate milestone reviews and provide clear guidance to project teams;
- Act as a trusted advisor by providing coaching and sharing best practices in project management;
- Support project managers in managing risks, developing schedules, setting up governance structures and executing delivery plans;
- Drive continuous improvement within the project management community;
- Support the PMO in the selection and allocation of project management resources for new initiatives;
- Assess skills, workload and project needs to ensure optimal alignment;
- Maintain visibility into project manager capacity and contribute to resource planning discussions.
- More than ten (10) years of experience in project or program delivery in a technology or business environment;
- Management experience is mandatory;
- Have proven experience with PMO governance frameworks, gating models and project audits/evaluations;
- Experience working in a global organization and matrix environment;
- Demonstrate demonstrated experience in improving PMO processes, maturity models, or delivery frameworks;
- Possess strong advisory and coaching skills, with an ability to influence without direct hierarchical authority;
- Have expertise in project management methodologies (an asset);
- Excellent communication, analytical and stakeholder management skills;
- Have a good understanding of IT delivery frameworks, including Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), Agile and hybrid models;
- This position requires fluency in French and English for daily tasks, understanding documentation, and professional communication with customers, suppliers, and colleagues across Canada. Language skills in French and English are essential, both oral and written.
