Job description
- Analyze functional needs and translate them into robust and scalable technical solutions;
- Design, develop and maintain the front-end and back-end components of applications;
- Develop and integrate application programming interfaces, application services, and data exchange mechanisms;
- Provide support, corrective maintenance and controlled evolution of the existing Microsoft Access application;
- Document forms, queries, reports, macros, VBA modules, data, and business rules of the existing application;
- Participate in the design and development of the new solution to gradually replace the existing application;
- Contribute to the preparation, validation and execution of the data migration;
- Perform unit testing and participate in integration and regression testing;
- Apply DevSecOps, application security, continuous integration, and continuous delivery practices;
- Use AI-assisted development tools by exercising critical judgment on the results produced;
- Review, correct, secure and document the generated code with the help of artificial intelligence;
- Produce solution documentation and perform structured knowledge transfer;
- Collaborate with the product manager, functional analyst, software architecture advisor, and other team members.
The profile we are looking for is as follows:
- Hold an undergraduate degree in computer science, software engineering, or a relevant discipline, or a combination of education and experience deemed equivalent;
- Have a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience in the analysis, design, development and maintenance of software solutions;
- Have significant experience in full stack development in complex application environments;
- Demonstrate experience in supporting or maintaining Microsoft Access applications;
- Proficient in Java for the development of enterprise applications, application services, and application programming interfaces;
- Knowledge of full-stack development covering user interfaces, application logic, services, application programming interfaces, and databases;
- Be proficient in Microsoft Access, including forms, queries, reports, macros, VBA modules, data models, and links to external sources;
- Have a good command of JavaScript or TypeScript as well as a modern interface development framework, such as Angular or React;
- Proficiency in relational databases and SQL;
- Experience with automated testing, continuous integration, continuous delivery, and DevSecOps practices;
- Use AI-assisted development tools effectively;
- Demonstrate an ability to review, correct, secure, and document product code with the help of artificial intelligence;
- Experience in modernizing, redesigning or gradually replacing a legacy application;
- Have worked in multidisciplinary teams using an agile approach;
- Knowable Spring or Spring Boot (an asset);
- Experience with Azure, Azure DevOps, or comparable technologies (an asset);
- Experience migrating data from Microsoft Access applications (an asset);
- Knowledge of health, emergency services or public sector environments (an asset);
- Experience with applications with sensitive data or high business continuity requirements (an asset).
