Job description

Here is a brief overview of the tasks and responsibilities that will fall to you:
  • Assess the current virtualization environment, architecture, and tools, as well as operational maturity;
  • Establish evaluation criteria in line with commercial, technical, operational and safety requirements;
  • Design and manage a structured proof of concept to validate the pre-selected platforms;
  • Compare options based on cost, performance, scalability, resiliency, security, and operational complexity;
  • Provide management with fact-based recommendations and a roadmap for the future solution;
  • Conduct an exploratory approach and assessment of the current state of the company's infrastructure, integrations, tools, activities and competencies in order to identify gaps, risks and constraints;
  • Conduct workshops with interested parties to define functional and non-functional requirements and establish clear success criteria for study and proof of concept;
  • Identify and evaluate the selected enterprise platforms using a harmonised framework taking into account technical compatibility, architecture, costs and fees, vendor viability and ecosystem maturity;
  • Design and oversee a structured proof of concept to validate performance, availability, security, data protection, observability and operational readiness, while tracking risks and dependencies;
  • Analyze the results of the proof of concept and provide comparative assessments, recommend a platform, present the main advantages, disadvantages and risks, provide an overview of costs and explain the effects on the organization;
  • Develop a step-by-step roadmap for the implementation of the future architecture, including the migration approach, prerequisites, dependencies, long-term governance, and operational aspects.
The profile sought is as follows:
  • Demonstrate deep expertise in enterprise virtualization platforms and architectures (VMware, KVM-based platforms, Hyper-V, Kubernetes/container platforms);
  • Have a solid understanding of on-premise and hybrid infrastructures;
  • Experience designing and supervising proofs of concept;
  • Have knowledge of observability and operational tools (monitoring, logging, alerting, automation);
  • Have the recognized ability to perform maturity assessments and analyses of the current situation;
  • Experience in defining functional and non-functional requirements;
  • Demonstrate a strong ability to evaluate platforms and perform benchmarking, including on:
    • licenses and cost models;
    • the roadmaps and maturity of the supplier ecosystem;
    • scalability, resiliency, and operational complexity;
  • Possess the ability to develop new architectures and roadmaps in stages;
  • Experience with total cost of ownership and summary cost-benefit analyses (detailed financial modelling not required);
  • Possess communication and leadership skills;
  • Proven experience in leading studies and proofs of concept involving multiple stakeholders;
  • Demonstrate strong project and governance discipline;
  • Have the ability to coordinate internal teams and external vendors while maintaining vendor neutrality;
  • Experience in leading technical workshops and workshops for executives;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Have the ability to produce high-quality, clear documents;
  • Demonstrate the demonstrated ability to translate technical results into concrete evidence-based recommendations;
  • Experience with large, complex and regulatory enterprise environments.
